What makes Grey Paws unique?
My patients are all unique, but do have similar life stories: They are elderly dogs and cats that have a hard time getting around the house or can no longer hike with their families; they are young dogs with newly diagnosed arthritis or orthopedic conditions; they are pets of any age with a neurologic condition that hampers their ability to be independent, functional and happy.
Canine Rehabilitation is still relatively new to Veterinary Medicine, but we have learned so much in the last 20 years and have so many options available to treat chronic pain (multimodal therapy is key), improve the wellbeing and happiness of our disabled or elderly dogs (carts, booties, harnesses, and other adaptive equipment) and help our dogs that have had surgery recover faster and with less pain.
I have been practicing veterinary medicine for over 20 years and have always had an interest in geriatric medicine and chronic pain management. While I enjoyed being a family veterinarian, I felt that we were missing a vital part of keeping our faithful companions mobile and happy and able to continue their family adventures as they age or after an injury.
There are so many ways of helping our companions, whether they have become disabled from a neurologic condition, are in chronic pain from arthritis or are healing from an orthopedic injury or surgery (cruciate tears, I am looking at you!). We have amazing modalities and therapies to help our pets: laser, acupuncture, pulsed electromagnetic therapy (PEMF), manual therapy, massage, stretching, therapeutic exercise, to name a few. There are so many more tools in our toolbox than just rest and pain medications to help our pets continue to be mobile and happy.
For example, just doing 5-10 minutes of focused exercises per day, incorporated into your daily routine with your dog, can make a huge difference in their quality of life. Even healthy senior dogs can benefit from a focused exercise program to keep them as mobile and as comfortable as possible as they age.
I am here for you and your arthritic, senior, injured or disabled pet. With home modifications, multi-modal pain management, exercises in our gym or your home, lifestyle adaptations and mobility aids like carts or harnesses, my mission is to keep your arthritic, injured, disabled or healthy senior dog happy and moving!
Dr. Kori Dreitlein, DVM, CCRT, cVMA, CVSMT

Dr. Kori Dreitlein grew up in the Denver area and graduated from the Tufts University College of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts in 2002. She and her husband moved to Montrose after graduation and have lived here for over 20 years. After working as a general small animal veterinarian in Montrose and Grand Junction for many years, she was able to follow her special interests in geriatrics, neurology and pain management and became certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture (cVMA) through the Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians program in 2013.
Dr. Kori started a small mobile acupuncture practice in Montrose and soon realized there was even more she could do to help our senior furry family members as well as those recovering from surgery and injury. That goal led her to become certified in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy (CCRT) through The Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2017 and she obtained her certification in Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (CVSMT) through the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in 2021. Dr. Kori believes that learning is a life-long endeavor and is always striving to improve her skills and knowledge to be able to help our aging and injured pets as well as she can.
Dr. Kori loves providing mobile Acupuncture and Rehabilitation Therapy to pets in Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel Counties and has a comfortable, relaxing and fun office space filled with exercise equipment to treat patients in Montrose. When not traveling the region helping dogs and cats feel better, she enjoys spending time in the mountains hiking, biking and skiing with her husband, two children and Summit, their German Shepherd.
